The Book of Exodus was written over 3,000 years ago and is filled with famous stories of adventure and supernatural miracles. Yet this book also provides tremendous practical guidance for our lives today by giving us hope in the God who saves. The overarching theme of Exodus is that God fulfills His promises despite the great obstacles in the world and the sin within us. God chooses to use a weak oppressed people to overcome the strongest superpower of their day to show us His power.
As we journey through this book, we will be built up with the hope of knowing our God is for us and will keep every promise He has ever made. We do not need to fear any oppression or obstacles that are placed in our way. The same God who brought the Israelites out of slavery to Egypt is the same God who can bring us out of slavery to sin. The redemptive God of Exodus is the same redemptive God who saves us through Jesus.
